We are conducting an informal survey of as many Duke Lung Transplant patients as possible. Please answer the following questions.
Typcially when a patient begins the lung transpant process, he/she is assigned a transplant coordinator. This coordinator oversees that patient's care as long as he/she remains in the Duke Lung Transplant program. (Sometimes coordinators leave and patients are moved around; but for the most part patients would keep the same coordinator. Recently because of the lack of enough coordinators, patients no longer have an assigned coordinator. Some transplant programs have two sets of coordinators. One group of coordinators for pre-transplant care and another group of coordinators for post transplant care. What would you prefer?
Another question relates to the doctors patients see. There are just a few surgeons to see and whoever does your transplant is who you get. The Pulmonologists are different. There is a staff of Pulmonologists who follow the patients post transplant. Initially patients are followed by the Pulmonologist who last saw them in the hospital. Other appointments seem to be made with who ever is available the soonest when patients need to be seen in clinic. Sometimes for appointments scheduled in advance, patients can request to see a specific Pulmonologist. Again, how do you think it "otta be"?
